Damon Q has no ligatures. The wire is held by the patented SpinTek clip: the doctor opens the door in seconds, changes the wire and snaps it shut. In passive mode the wire slides freely in the slots and moves teeth gently; when needed the doctor switches the clip to active mode to increase the force on individual teeth. Friction is 40–60% lower than in ligature systems.

The brackets are made of medical steel: it does not rust, react with acids or deform even during complex movements. Rounded edges, a compact size and low profile reduce irritation of the lips and cheeks. According to the manufacturer, treatment on Damon Q is about 20% faster than with ligature braces, and arch expansion often avoids extractions.

    Removal and retention

Care rules

  • Home hygiene

    An orthodontic brush, interdental brushes of the right size and a water flosser. Avoid whitening pastes with coarse abrasives.

  • Food restrictions

    No whole nuts, crackers, hard candy, toffee, nougat or gum. Apples and carrots in small pieces.

  • Elastics

    If elastics are prescribed for home wear, follow the schedule and change them as instructed.

How is Damon Q different from regular metal braces?
